Waiting for an L60 item to pop on the node can be very frustrating, but that's RNG and that's why the rewards are highly sought after. No need to actually gather from them so long as you "open" the gathering options for the node and then close it again (ie, "touching the node"). If there is no L60 item, leave the node as it is and run to another pair of regular nodes nearby. Depends on how RNG feels about you that moment!
